The next General Membership Meeting of the Auxiliary will be held at 7 pm, April 1st at the hall. Dinner is served at 6 PM.
The Auxiliary has reached the membership goal set for us by the state. If you have not yet paid your dues for the 2025 year, please pay as soon as possible. Your dues have to be up to date for the previous year prior to paying for the next year. If you have not paid for the 2023-2024 year, please do so as soon as possible. If you would like to pay your dues for 2025 and are not concerned about continuous membership, you may pay just for 2025. We are collecting 2024-2025 dues now!! Dues for the Auxiliary are $36.00 and $9.00 for junior members. For those of you who are paid members, please come to our meetings. Membership helps support us financially but we need your help. We need ideas and help implementing those ideas.
Our Kitchen Staff needs help. Please contact Scott or Brenda to see how you can help!
Operation We Care will have their April packing on April 9th at Fort Knox Storage at 8 am. Fifty-two packages were sent to deployed service members in March and the plan is to send packages to fifty more servicemembers in April. Operation We Care is in need of names and addresses of deployed troops to receive packages. Please enter this information on the Operation We Care website: operationwecare.com. They are also in need of chicken in pouches, beef jerky and other snack size items. Please contact Auxiliary President Brenda Ogden, (985-705-1235) if you would like to help with this worthwhile project. Please consider donating cash for postage (which has recently increased again) or products.
In February, 100 King Cakes were mailed to our deployed service members in boxes decorated by 2nd and 3rd graders at Covington Elementary. Special thanks to the students for their artistic efforts and to those who donated funds to the King Cake Event.
The Auxiliary continues to support cash prizes to the Forest Manor Nursing Home’s BINGO for residents.
The March BINGO was held on the 19th and seven residents were winners!!!
The April calendar has not yet been released but we are welcome to visit at any time.
If you are interested in honoring a veteran grave, please send a check to the Auxiliary at the legion’s address. The cost per wreath is $17, but any donation can be mailed to the Auxiliary and we combine all donations to purchase as many wreaths as possible. Please contact Pam Herty, 985- 264-9980, if you have any questions about this program. Our drive for the 2025 Christmas ceremony started January 1st and we have sent our first donation to WAA for the December 2025 wreath ceremony. The National American Legion Auxiliary has adopted this worthwhile program as well.

During each BINGO session, the Auxiliary raffles baked goods to help raise money for two Veteran Projects.
We provide Christmas gifts for the 130 Veterans in the Southeast Veterans’ War Home in Reserve, LA.
We also use the money to sponsor wreaths for veteran graves at the Southeast Veteran Cemetery in Slidell through Wreaths Across America.
The raffle proceeds are split between these two veteran support activities. If you can help us with donated baked goods, please contact Toni Blackstock at (979) 235-7182. The Auxiliary has set their goal again this year at 250 wreaths with the hope of exceeding this number

We now have a “Give Butter” account allowing us to accept donations electronically through Paypal, Venmo, Credit Cards and Apple Pay. Hopefully this will boost our donations allowing us to be more generous in our veteran endeavors.
If you are attending a charitable event, to raise funds for the Auxiliary, please contact Lucy Vennen at lvennen@gmail.com. She will email you a printable QR code to tape to your table for people to use to donate funds.
Check out the QR code on the right. Give Butter is quite easy to use!
